Opening of the new library building for the South Houston branch in 1935

Gifts were presented to the new building by the fol¬ lowing Houston firms: Kuhn Paint and Varnish forks, Pittsburg Plate Glass, James Bute, John L. Goodyear , Inc . , Jacobe Brothers Electric Company. Golden Triangle Lumber Company and Killough and Black of Couth Houston also made contributions. Through the Chamber of Commerce drive, generous gifts were given by Ctanolind Oil Company, Johnston and Johnston, and Texas Fireworks. К.Ж. Dodd of Couth Houston gave the oak desk, four standard oak libr ry chairs, and a swival chair. James S.Hill and Hugh Dumas built and donated the library table and children' s . bench. Labor was given by Bill Hahn, Frank Peters, C. Carrier, B.C. Black, Frank .oison, Jim Moroney, W.B. Robertson of Houston, and C. Garfield from Pasadena and his assistants. The Couth Houston Library Board is composed of the following members: Mayor William Bond, Mrs. A. W. Estes, president of the P.T.A., L.F. Smith, A. W. Estes, Mrs. B.C. Black, custodian, Miss Edgar, and Miss Hazel Pace, lib¬ rary assistant in charge of the branch. The City Council library committee includes the following]: J.E. Waite, Clarence Hall, and L.F. Smith. The library hours for circulation are Mondays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:30 . S-AW
