New library scheduled to open by summer

New Library Scheduled to Open by Summer The Harris County Public Library’s bookmobile will stop at Northwood Plaza on Aldine Mail Route Rd. and 1-59 three more times before the new High Meadows branch opens. Construction of the brown brick building located west of the Plaza between Hambrick Junior High and MacArthur Senior High School is progressing on schedule. Inside under the sharply sloped roof are children’s and adult reading and study areas. The east side of the building features a meeting room that seats fifty and will be available for use by community groups. Before the new library opens near the beginning of June the bookmobile will make its final three stops, April 14 and 28 and May 12, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The book¬ mobile carries a selec¬ tion of reading materials for children and adults that includes popular fiction and magazines as well as titles of general interest on a variety of subjects. Special items available include books in Spanish and phono¬ graph records. Anyone who wants to register for a free library card should bring proof of iden¬ tification with the ap¬ plicant’s address on it. Children under 14 need a parent or guar¬ dian to sign for them.
