Park, County Librarian SUBJECT : Additional information concerning the County Library’s Bookmobile Operation During my Budget Hearing, Алле Black, Administrative Assistant to Commissioner Steve Radack, asked for additional information concerning the library’s bookmobile operation. I have developed the enclosed form to give you more information concerning each stop made by the Bookmobiles. The Bookmobile does not keep separate patron count records by stop. The records are given as a total. These patron count statistics are taken three times a year, the Spring, Summer and Fall to give us a idea of the total number of patrons using the libraries and bookmobiles. The total count is divided by Adult and Children. The patron count for 1990 is enclosed. I would like to take this opportunity to justify once again my request for a vehicle ($150,000) to replace the 17 year old bookmobile. These are as follows: 1. As you are aware, Harris County has grown substantially in the last ten years mainly to the North and West. The majority of bookmobile stops are located in these areas. Even though the County has placed five large branch libraries in these parts of the County since 1983 there are still large pockets of population without library service such as Mission Bend, Atascocita, Mason Road, Spring, Copperfield, Sagemont, Bonaire, Ranch Country and the area served by the stops at Camden Park, Cutten Green, Epps Island, Kleinbrook, Northwest Park and Greenfield Village.
