GRAND OPENING
MAUD SMITH MARKS LIBRARY
Well, could you believe it? What a day! Over 300 people in
attendance; Ray Miller as Master of Ceremonies; special remarks
by Commissioner Steve Radack, County Judge Jon Lindsay, the
children of Maud Marks - Atha Dimon, Maudeen Marks, and Travis
Marks; the Vincent Kickerillo Family (who so wonderfully donated
the land); and Margie Hudson, the heart and soul of the Friends
of the Maud Smith Marks Library and its president. It was more
than enough to make us all proud of our hard work and dedication
for all these years.
To add to all this, Commissioner Radack told all of the children
in attendance that if they would sign a list, he would make sure
that one new book would be donated per child with a special book
plate in each book containing the name of one of the children in
attendance. How special for those kids. There were over 125 who

children's collection.
Throughout the day of the opening, the Friends group hosted a
reception of punch and cookies. We'd like to add a very special
thanks to Friends members Kay Young and Nancy Weaver for all the
time they put in to making this reception such a success.
We also want to thank Randall's and Gerland's for the dozens upon
dozens of cookies they donated, what special neighbors
to this area. And, of course, out thanks to members of Girl
Scout Troop #5814, their leader Jane Hubbell and co-leaders Tammy

serving during the reception. We know it was a
