Jacinto City branch history from 1957 to 1973

JACINTO CITY Until 1957 the Jacinto City area was served by Bookmobile. In 1957, however, the city requested the Court to open a branch in their area. The city would furnish land, a building and maintenance if the county would supply books and a librarian. Later, the County Librarian suggested to the Jacinto City Mayor that he appoint a Board as a link between the local library and the county system to look after the interests of his citizens. The Board would include both the County Librarian and the local librarian. This was done. In 1961 the building was remodeled, but the arrangement for services was kept. In 1973 there is conflict between the City Council of Jacinto City and the Commissioner of their precinct.
