Arrangements are being made to
provide library facilities for North
Harris county, County Commission¬
er Ed Clauder said, .with a building
to be situated somewhere in the
Berry school area.
Recently he received a petition
from the North Harris County Li¬
brary association asking that the
county appropriate $25,000 for a
building to be erected on a donated
; site.
, Clauder said that it is planned to
jmove one of the buildings to be
bought by the county in acquiring
the right-of-way for the north loop
highway to a site to be provided.
Library Arranged In
Berry School Area
Through a bit of horsetrading
the North Houston Library Asso¬
ciation is going to acquire a li¬
brary to be located in the Berry
School Addition, A. J. Moody,
temporary chairman, announced
Wednesday.
Land for the site is to be do¬
nated to the association, which in
turn will deed it to the county.
County Commissioner Ed Clauder
says he will take an old building
acquired by the county when it
bought some property for a right
of way for the North Loop and

Lounty Gives
Two Holidays
To Employes
County employes will -get two
extra holidays this year, Christmas
Eve and New Year’s Eve.
Several months ago, the commis¬
sioners court adopted an order dis-|
continuing Washington’s birthday,
Feb. 22, and Texas Independence
day, March 2, as official holidays,
and substituting Dec. 24 and Dec.
31. Not much business is transact¬
ed at the courthouse on those days,
anyway, it was explained.
With Christmas approaching,
somebody noticed Monday that the
order was made effective in 1947.
It was passed after Feb. 22, and
March 2 had been observed.
- County Judge Glenn A. Perry
I said that the commissioners court
would stand by its order, with the
result that county employes will get
four holidays instead of two.
