The maydr is confident that volunteerism will provide the necessary funds and services to improve the facility. “The strength of the Villages is the retired people who do not play golf everyday, but who have the time for volunteerism and get in¬ volved with the community,” Stockdale says. And he says the Villages’ older residents know the library well, since the original white house that housed the area’s hooks sits right behind the present Corbindale location. “I checked out my first book there back in 1949,” the mayor remembers. With the building as important and historical as it is, he’s count¬ ing on a lot of support to keep the building thriving. Those wanting to volunteer can call their city hall.
