At this time she gave a talk on the Harris County Library and the Garden Villas Branch. It was suggested that repairs to the building be made. A committee was formed with Mrs. Clifford Condit as chairman, and Mr. Bucsanyi asked to give an estimate of repairs. As a result it was decided to tear down the old building and replace it with a new one. Donations came in as follows: Volunteer Fire Department $500.00 Local P. T. A. 100.00 Rotary Club of South Houston 100.00 Work began as soon as the books were moved to the ele¬ mentary school building where they remained during the summer and the library service continued. Garden Villas new Library was officially opened on Saturday, September 27. 1952, at which time the people sponsored a carnival. $250.00 was raised towards the building fund.
