April 1987
MONTH
YEAR
April 1987 is a historic month for Galena Park Library, since a
major change has occurred this month. The library was,’ at long last,
relocated into the 100 Main Street location. Peggy and Karen began
packing up supplies, audiovisual materials, back issues of periodicals,
non-fiction paperbacks and the circulation desk. during the week of April
6 through 11th. Early Monday morning, April 13th, Rhoda, Elaine and
Darryl from Central arrived to help pack up the books. County employees
were enlisted to trasport the boxes and furniture from one location to
the other. Most of the books and furniture were moved the first day
with the remainder delivered Tuesday, April 14th. The biggest hurdle

Karen proctored a test for a student from Texas Tech.
Karen and David Jones met with the electrician and county communications
to discuss electrical wiring for the circulation desk and the branch in
general. Rhoda visited that afternoon for a short tour of the branch.
Friday, April 24th Karen attended a branch meeting at High Meadows and
had the pleasure of watching Peggy in action. Peggy, Willie Pennington
from Stratford and Dwan Garrison from High Meadows presented the summer
reading club puppet show for the branch librarians. They did a super job
and the puppet show looks like a winner.
