The only glitch in the scenario was the fact that there was no library in the area. Did that fact discourage this dauntless group? NO! They were confident that Harris County would be glad to provide a library for such an eager community. Months passed and the Friends discovered that even though the County would love to grant the requests of all of its citizens, one small impediment stood in the way. MONEY! There simply wasn't enough to go around. Instead of being discouraged by the bad news, the Friends got in line to wait their turn. And wait they did. One year passed and then another and another. Never ones to give up, the Friends continued to remind Harris County of their presence and determination. So far, this sounds like a tale of frustration. It could have been with any other group, but this one used the years to get to know each other better, investigate the history of their area, and raise funds. The County finally said that it might see its way clear to building the library, but it certainly didn't have the money to buy land. The Friends spent many hours looking at maps to get an idea of who owned what pieces of vacant property. Several developers were approached about a land
